Miles of Pipes
Water travels from the Murphree Water Treatment Plant to your homes and businesses through a network of more than 1,000 miles of pipes that we maintain daily to ensure safe delivery.
Drink Up!
GRU water is always on tap and a fantastic value! For less than half a cent per gallon, we deliver high-quality, great-tasting water to your faucets 24/7/365. Pro tip: GRU water is available even when the power goes out, but to be safe or help friends and neighbors, fill clean jugs with GRU water before a major storm. You can keep them for up to three days before refreshing.
GRU provides about 200,000 people with high-quality, great-tasting water.
Maintenance
Our staff works around the clock to maintain a water system whose pipes could stretch from Gainesville to New York. Sometimes maintenance to the water system requires us to issue a precautionary boil water notice. This process includes informing customers who are affected, testing the water to make sure it’s safe to drink and then notifying customers when all is clear, typically within 48 to 72 hours. Maintenance is also occasionally required on the customer side. Watch this short video to learn how to read your meter and spot a potentially costly leak.
Water Conservation
As part of our conservation efforts, GRU participates annually in the Drop Savers Water Conservation Poster Contest, a statewide competition where local students create artwork and slogans illustrating how water conservation connects to their daily lives. We display winning posters at a meet-and-greet and post them on our social media accounts.
